The main reason of forest fires in Ukraine as a rule is violation with the requirements of the fire safety in forests during the high and extreme level of fire danger period and burning on agricultural lands.

In State Forest Resources Agency forests there is created network of 511 towers aimed to observation of forest area, 367 of them with television surveillance system.

State forest enterprises systematically conduct awareness rising activities aimed to explain safety regulations within fire danger period in forests, (7045 speeches in the media), conducted about 25 thousand raids, define persons who violate such regulations and find them (470 people).

Protection of forests against fires is conducted by 1,7 thousand forest units, 272 forest fire protection stations, around 17 thousand foresters. Among technical equipment there are: 638 fire-engines, 491 forest fire protection modules, 1070 power pumps, 2,1 thousand radio stations, 8,8 thousand back-pack sprayer etc., unmanned aerial vehicles 40 etc.
