Ukraine-Turkey. The Agreement on cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Turkey and the Government of Ukraine in the field of forestry was signed in October 2013 and entered into force in 2015.
According to the Agreement, the parties will cooperate in the following areas:
- protection of forests from pests such as pests, diseases and invasive species; fight against forest fires;
- reforestation and cultivation of forest planting material, combating land devastation and erosion; afforestation of lands unsuitable for agriculture
- methods of mechanization and joint standardization of timber production;
- utilization of non-timber forest products;
- planning and management of forest protected areas; ecotourism planning for forest protected areas;
- integrated watershed flow regulation;
- promotion of investments in forestry.
Ukraine-Latvia. The State Forest Resources Agency of Ukraine started cooperation with the State Joint Stock Company "Latvian State Forests". In 2015-2016, three visits of Ukrainian specialists were conducted with the purpose of experience exchange on forest management and financial and economic provision of balanced forest management.
Further cooperation is carried out within the framework of consulting assistance and training of Ukrainian specialists in the growing of plants with a closed root system.
Ukraine-Poland. Cooperation is carried out as part of the exchange of delegations. The last visit of representatives of the State Forest Resources Agency of Ukraine to the state forestry company of Poland was organized and conducted in June 2016 to study the experience of balanced forest management, in particular the reform of the institutional structure.
Ukraine-Austria. In September-October 2016. The State Forest Resources Agency of Ukraine prepared and agreed with the Austrian side a draft Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation between the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine and the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, Water Management and Environment of the Republic of Austria in the field of forestry. On October 20, 2016, during the visit of a delegation of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy to Austria, the Memorandum was signed by the ministers of the two countries.
It is envisaged to establish cooperation on:
- forestry based on objective data and information (including national forest inventory data);
- ensuring the legality of timber in accordance with the obligations of the EU Timber Regulation;
- conducting applied research on forest conservation and protection, forest genetics, soil research and ecology;
- implementation of forestry management close to nature, preservation of forest biodiversity;
- reducing the impact of climate change and adaptation to its changes in the forest sector, including measures to prevent natural disasters;
- introduction of effective and environmentally friendly technologies for forest management and professional development of foresters;
- needs assessments for forest infrastructure and construction of forest roads;
- raising environmental awareness of the society, education and development of environmental culture of the population on balanced forest management.
Ukraine-Slovenia. The State Forest Resources Agency of Ukraine signed a Memorandum of understanding and cooperation in the field of forestry in 2017.
It is envisaged to establish cooperation on:
- effective forest management, conservation of forest biodiversity;
- reducing the impact of climate change and adaptation to its changes in the forest sector;
- close to nature forestry;
- application of ecologically safe technologies, balanced use of forest resources;
- raising public awareness and environmental consciousness, education and development of environmental culture of the population in the field of sustainable forest management.
As part of the implementation of the memorandum, held two visits of Ukrainian specialists in Slovenia and received a delegation of Slovenia in Ukraine. As part of the visit of Slovenian colleagues in Ukraine, a round table was held with the aim of sharing experiences with the participation of chief foresters of all territorial departments of the State Forest Resources Agency of Ukraine.
Ukraine-Germany. Since 2017, cooperation in the field of forestry takes place within the framework of the German-Ukrainian agropolitical dialogue (hereinafter - AGD). Activities are aimed at supporting the introduction of the national forest inventory, supporting the improvement and transformation of forestry, increasing the efficiency of forestry production, etc.
Ukraine-Slovak Republic. In 2017, signed a Memorandum of understanding and cooperation in the field of forestry with the state enterprise "Forests of the Slovak Republic" and the National Forest Center of the Slovak Republic in the field of forestry.
It is envisaged to establish cooperation on:
- effective forest management, conservation of forest biodiversity;
- reducing the impact of climate change and adaptation to its changes in the forest sector;
- forestry close to nature;
- application of ecologically safe technologies, balanced use of forest resources;
- increasing public awareness and environmental consciousness, education and development of environmental culture of the population in the field of sustainable management of forest areas.
