Representatives of the State Forest Resources Agency of Ukraine and the SFE "Forests of Ukraine" met with representatives of the Lithuanian business community and government structures responsible for corporate governance during an official visit to Vilnius, Lithuania.
A meeting also took place with the First Lady of the Republic of Lithuania and representatives from the embassies of Ukraine and the United Kingdom in Lithuania.
During a joint session at the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Lithuania, with the participation of the heads of the Lithuanian Forest Service and the SE "Forests of Lithuania," information was presented about the state of Ukrainian forests, as well as the impact of russian aggression on the forestry sector and ecosystems. Additionally, the structure of the industry and our achievements in the framework of reforms were showcased.
Delegation members also had the opportunity to visit one of the most modern complexes for growing forest seedlings in the Baltic region.
The choice of the Republic of Lithuania for the visit was motivated by the desire to learn from this country's experience in implementing large-scale reforms and building a modern European society.
Lithuania has established a leading position among the top five countries in terms of corporate governance reform of state-owned enterprises over the past decade, according to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) rankings.
The experience exchange took place with the support of the USAID/UKaid project "Activities under the Reform of State Enterprises in Ukraine” SOERA, aimed at improving the operations and transparency of Ukrainian state enterprises, as well as enhancing their strategic management.
We are grateful to our Lithuanian colleagues and the Government of Lithuania for fostering cooperation and experience exchange, as well as for supporting Ukraine in its struggle against the russian aggressor!
