The international organization suspended cooperation with the russian federation and continued to work in Ukraine under martial law.
This was reported by a member of the FSC International leadership team Lieske van Santen at a meeting with the First Deputy Head of the State Forest Resources Agency of Ukraine Yuriy Sotnyk.
Thanks to the fruitful cooperation of the two parties, 50% of Ukraine's forests received FSC certification. This result is the highest in Europe.
The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) has updated the regulatory framework in order to be able to work in a country where there is a full-scale war. The priority is staff safety in the forests.
At the meeting, the parties discussed how to continue cooperation in a war situation. Achieving the goals of a circular economy involves the use of renewable and recycled materials to eliminate carbon emissions and create a sustainable future.
