Forestry ranger of Naroditsky special forestry enterprise Oleksandr Chernovol has been awarded with the Order "For Courage". The high award on the eve of Independence Day was personally presented by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky.
"On the first day of the war, Oleksandr together with his colleagues saved the forestry equipment, which was almost next to the border. He took it to the rear, so that it would not fall into the hands of the Russians. He gathered a group of several men armed with hunting weapons. The men helped organize the evacuation of people, piling up and blocking the central road to prevent the enemy from moving. When Ukrainian troops approached, Oleksandr was given combat weapons and constantly accompanied a group of scouts on combat missions. Once he even shot down a Russian BMP. Oleksandr says he has never thought of becoming a combat veteran. In war, people care about something else entirely. Saving one's own and destroying the enemy," said Yuriy Bolokhovets, head of the State Forest Resources Agency of Ukraine.
Two Heroes-Forest Workers were posthumously awarded the Order "For Courage" Third Class. They are Pavel Guryanov - operator of the boiler SE "Sumy Forestry" and Valeriy Korotenko - locksmith SE "Iziaslav Forestry".
The heroes do not die!
Glory to Ukraine!
