State Forest Resources Agency of Ukraine together with representatives of public environmental organizations discussed the draft resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine «On some issues of logging in the forests of Ukraine and the inventory of forests during the military conditions».

"I understand the excitement of environmental organizations concerning the abolition of the sanitary rules in the Ukrainian forests, the possibility of cutting sparse forests and complete sanitary cuttings in certain categories of forests in the Carpathians, the possibility of cutting in the non-exploited forests, as well as the temporary closure of public access to open data on forest cutting. Almost from the first days of the war there were enormous demands for timber for the defense sector - construction of fortifications, defense fortifications, firewood for heating and cooking, massive blockage of roads of state and local importance, as well as forest roads. All of this needed an immediate regulatory resolution," said Yuriy Bolokhovets, Head of the State Forest Resources Agency of Ukraine.

Only in a constructive dialogue is it possible to get the right decision. Therefore, discussions with ecologists will continue in order to come to a unified conclusion.
