Ukraine became one of the first countries in the world to join the new pilot project of the international organization FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) to track the movement of timber on international markets.
This was stated by the Deputy Chairman of the State Forest Resources Agency of Ukraine for Digital Development Victor Smal.
"We are talking about digital software based on blockchain technology. Information about timber, its origin and movement will be accumulated in decentralized international databases. Blockchain technology will ensure the integrity of information and exclude the possibility of misuse of data already entered," explains Victor Smal.
The first users of the system are the state enterprises subordinate to the State Forest Resources Agency of Ukraine in Zakarpattya region.
The entered data will help to keep track of timber from the country of origin to its further movement in the international markets.
At the world level, Ukraine and China are beginning to use the new system. The results of the pilot project will determine its further use in other countries.
