The forest cover of Turkey is constantly increasing and is now about 29%. It is true that the concept of forest in Ukraine and Turkey is somewhat different. Almost all the country's forests are owned by the state (99%), and it is the state that provides the industry with the most powerful support.

The central governing body in the forestry sector is the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, under which the General Directorate of Forestry is in charge.
