Today on the basis of "Liman Forestry" state enterprise there was opened the innovative afforestation center. Now here will grow planting material based on the technology of the Swedish company BCC AB.

"Every year this forest planting complex will produce 1,200,000 seedlings of pine with closed root system. In the future, the plant will grow deciduous species, and will also provide neighboring regions with planting material," said Yuriy Bolokhovets, head of the State Forest Resources Agency of Ukraine.

The center includes:

a seed processing and seeding shop;

greenhouse for the cultivation of seedlings with a closed root system;

A platform for seedlings growing up.

A similar complex was opened in Lviv region this autumn. It is forecasted that the region will receive additional 7.5 million seedlings per year with a closed root system and 4 million seedlings with improved root system.

Next year selection and seedling complexes will be built in Kyiv, Zhytomyr, Kirovohrad, Sumy, Chernihiv, Volyn, Ivano-Frankivsk and Ternopil regions.

It will allow to increase significantly the capacity and to realize the Presidential program "Green Country", which provides for planting of 1 billion trees during three years and increase of forest area by 1 million hectares during 10 years.
